After Turkey Day

So, Thanksgiving came, and it proved to be a busy day for me. I drove Christina to work, then made a pie. It was good to do it, but I had fallen asleep and started making it too soon. Oops... I had to pull the pie out of the oven after I picked Christina up from work. I had two dinners back to back and they were both yummy. Christina's family had two ducks in addition to the turkey, and Papa had the standard fare, with his turkey being so very juicy and tender. Afterwards, I just wanted to relax and go to sleep early. I had to get up at three am to go to work. Christina invited her sister and cousin to spend the night. Okay, I was a little ticked off, but she rarely gets to see them. We head home and they hang out. I go to bed at ten, and they know it. I can't sleep due to the music from Christina's laptop and Carly's very loud voice on her cell phone. She has no indoor voice. I got up in time to get to work and got there before four am, when I was scheduled. More on this later. It's after 11 and I have to get up at three. Yikes.

Arsenic and Old Lace

Oh yeah, before I forget, Addam's play last night was hilarious. It was Arsenic and Old Lace. I always thought that the old movie was some drama or something, but it was really entertaining. Addam played the pseudo-doctor who had a funny German accent. He played his part really well, and had some great pratfalls. Bravo, Addam.

Drinks with the Guys

Last night I went out to the bar with Justin and Jason. Granted, Christina was there at the beginning, since she was dropping me off (like Hell I was going to drive after being at the bar!) and she wanted to see them. How messed up is this: Christina was drinking beer, and the three of us were drinking 'fru-fru drinks' as Jason put it. She had a Miller Lite because with it you got a free Red Wings pint glass (not a mug). I don't go for Miller Lite, so I asked her (the waitress) to make up a mixed drink. She came back with a red drink, called a Tropical Red Wing which has Malibu, pineapple juice and a touch of cranberry. I think it was grenadine and not cranberry, myself. Those weren't too expensive at 3.50 for a pint. Christina left, leaving the guys to chat, and we had a good time. The next round she brought us Long Beach Iced Teas, which are the same as Long Islands but with cranberry instead of Coke. They were 6.00 a pop, so we went back to the Red Wings, which tasted better anyway. After two hours, and 5 and a half drinks for me, we decided to call it a night. Jason and Justin both had to work in the morning. Lucky for me that I didn't. :) I am kind of disappointed, I had that much to drink and I only had a light buzz for a few minutes. I mean, how much money would it cost to get me drunk? More than I am willing to spend at one time. I guess that's a good thing, since I really don't like being drunk. Christina came and picked me up, and I got to wake up with her in my arms, not to the alarm clock. It was wonderful. I want to work later in the morning than 4, 5, or 6, so I can be with her more. Oh well, eh?

Food Goodness

I quite often write about food. This is no different. Jess and Dan asked if we were busy, and if they could come over and make us dinner. Hell yeah we were all for it. It was Pork with Black Bean Sauce. It consisted of deep-frying the pork which was chopped into small pieces and coated in honey, sake, soy, and cornstarch. After that, veggies were stir fried and the pork was added and it all braised. It turned out to be a delicious dish with slight tanginess of the honey and soy, but mainly the black bean sauce overpowering. Next time we will find a real Oriental black bean sauce and not use the black bean paste refried bean sauce thing. Also, we got to see Lilo and Stitch to watch, and it was really funny after the whole sad part. I enjoyed it, even though it was completely different than I thought. All right, tonight we are going to go and see Addam's play, and then perhaps go to the bar with the boys. Woo!

Only a 2 Day Gap

I've been away from the journal for the past two days only, but lots has happened. First and foremost, we haven't seen the new Harry Potter. Instead, Justin and Wendy along with Christina and me decided to hit Malarky's, an Irish pub. We could have gone during the day, but Christina's mom got a new puppy. Seeing puppies makes Christina into a little kid, and she instantly goes to play with it. This little guy, a cocker spaniel who is mainly white with some blond/yellow (called "buff") splotches and freckles, was just a little ball of wiggly energy. He is so very cute and playful, and he didn't make a single noise while we were there! We played with him a while, bought him a toy, and just pretty much had a good time. We also visited Barb and Bart (who fed us, yay!) , then it was off to the bar. Malarky's is an inviting, warm place with waitresses that serve you two drinks then ignore you. They also have a 166 oz beer. Yes, one hundred sixty six ounces. It is in a big glass tube and has a tap on it, and it looked awesome, but I was the only one drinking beer, so that wouldn't be good at all.Having a good time there, we headed back to the apartment, and Jason Bomgren showed up.We hung out, talked, watched a bit of Atlantis, and then they headed off. Sunday morning brought the day of setting the ad at Best Buy. I managed to survive a full day there with out having to push any product from the warehouse. I had so many other tasks, I was kept busy. The day went by quickly, and I was soon out of there. I was surprised to find that Jason showed up at Best Buy while I was working, so we went out to lunch at Arby's. Then, as I was leaving work, there were free meatball subs in the break room. So, I had one. Yay! Later on during the day, I went out grocery shopping with Jason who decided to hang out. I am seeing more of him since I am living in this apartment. Around 7:30, I got ready and went back to Best Buy for holiday training, which is Top Secret. No more on this. Today, so far, we played with the wigglepup, who is named Charley, or Charlie, depending on how you want to spell it. I don't think that matters one way or the other to him. He just wants people around him. Poor pup. We also (Christina and me) went to Sam's Club and stocked up on juice. I love me some juice. I think I will play more Gameboy Advance and relax today. I love days off.

Sleepy Time

Yesterday was another great day. I went to work at 5 instead of 4 in the morning, which served to keep me awake and therefore alive in the drive to work. After working at Best Buy, I got to come home for a couple hours to spend with lovely Christina. Back home, I snuggled up with her as she played with her laptop, and we just watched some tv. Around three thirty, I was almost falling asleep, and if it weren't for her, I would have passed out, and, therefore, missed working at Wine Castle. At Wine Castle, we have been having a contest selling six types of wine. The number of bottles sold weighted against the number of days worked will give the 'rating' and so far, I may just be in the lead, since I work so few days. If I win, I will get a $55 bottle of red wine as my prize. Yay! When work at Wine Castle ended, I came back to the apartment and watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off on Starz (or Encore, something like that). I fell asleep half way through it and woke up as Cameron was destroying the beautiful Ferrari. It was bed time. Most of my day was work, but it wasn't so bad. The time spent at home with Christina and the kitties more than made up for it. Today, I get to see the new Harry Potter. More on this later.
Ahh, it's so good to be able to write a very positive journal entry. I had a wonderful day, after I got out of work. Work was okay, just really busy. I told them that I wasn't coming in at 4am anymore since nobody else comes in till 5 who works on the day crew (as opposed to the midnight shift). They said okay, so there is no issue there. Today I got home from work and read a bit and cleaned up the place a little. There wasn't much to do. When Christina got home, we relaxed and just played on our computers. She stole the internet connection and set up the budgeting software from Microsoft Money. I tried to do what I could on my computer, and mainly just ended up playing Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance on my Gameboy Advance emulator. More on that in a future post. We were hungry and had no food, so I went to the Senate coney island and got Christina a Gyro and chili fries (rice pudding too, of course) while I had a mega breakfast. They didn't give me syrup with my french toast, but that may very well be the most negative part of the whole day! Not too bad... Jess and Dan came over and spent time with us, too. They had rough days, so we had a drink and watched some more Love Hina. I have gotten them hooked... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Now, I am sleepy and it is time for rest. I get to go to bed now, and I don't have to wake up till after 4am. WOO! Oh~ Christina, Dan, and Jess together broke the "couch." There were three metal bars holding the box spring and mattress off of the floor, and all of them were sitting on one, and Christina lunged for something, and then something twisted and down they went. It's all for the best, because now we sit at a good height with the box spring and mattress right on the floor with the bed frame around it. I like it, actually. I still think I want a couch frame instead of the bed frame, though. I want Animal Crossing and I will have it eventually. Eventually...

Missives from the Doghouse

Well, it seems that my screwy sleep patterns have harmed my life again. Last night, Christina and I went to Theo's for an hour or so, the bar I used to work at. We hung out a bit, she danced, and I had to rescue her once. We had a wonderful evening, until we were on our way home. You see, she wanted to stop and get some Wendy's, which I was all for, but the two we stopped at were closed. She got mad at me. I suppose I could have gotten Toxic Hell (Taco Bell) but our stomachs were better off without. Add to this that I was tired as all hell. I ended up getting less than an hour and a half of sleep before I had to get up and go to work, and this was cut in half by Myst waking me up in the middle of it. Today, I went to work all right, got there with a few minutes to spare, and worked my tail off for a little over 8 hours. I got Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clowns (yes, I know) for 9.99 since Best Buy price matches Toys R Us. Also, Christina finally got the laptop that she has been wanting. Well, not *the* one she wanted, but one that kicks the ass of my computer. In buying this, I made Christina late to work. Strike One. When I got home, I set up the laptop to charge for when she got home. I almost fell asleep twice doing this simple task. Nap time. I set my phone alarm and my alarm clock for 5:00pm, so I wouldn't sleep my day away, and another phone alarm for 7:20 so I had time to return Spiderman and get gas before picking Christina up from work. Guess who didn't wake up. Strike Two. Christina calls me at five past 8 and is pissed, understandably so, since she has sorority stuff to attend to. I freak out and am racing to get my stuff together and get out the door. I run out the door, lock it behind me and then spin around to catch the door. It shuts, and I have no keys. Strike Three. I am officially in a deep load of crap. Thankfully, Justin can pick her up and bring her here to get her car (and let me in) and he saves the day. Thanks to him, I also saved the twenty dollars that it costs to get let into my apartment when locked out. So, Justin and Jason were over, and I rewarded Justin with a precious Amaretto Sour (liquid gold to him) and we hung out for a bit. I also got to see Jason, who I haven't seen for a few months. So I screwed up big time tonight, and I am not sure if Christina is going to come back here after the sorority stuff. I really hope she does, even if she comes back to yell at me. I hate it when she runs away to her parent's house. But, then again, I am not the only one in the doghouse for the night, so it won't be too cold. Jason and Justin left the house because another set of friends, Chris and Heather were arguing, and then when Jason didn't say "yes dear" and run back right away to get Erin, she got mad at him. I am not justifying this at all, however. I really am to blame for my own stupidity.

What to do?

Today hasn't really been the most stellar day for me. I try to keep the unpleasantness out of my journal and focus on the positive with some mention of a restaurant, or a funny link, but that is kind of difficult sometimes. I worked this morning, which was actually fine, and I got out at a reasonable time. There was nothing wrong here. The thing that went wrong is a matter between Christina and myself. She explained it in her journal's first post here [link removed] and that pretty much sums it all up. I fell asleep and didn't wake up to my phone ringing. Then again, our "couch" does have the most comfortable mattress in the whole wide world. To make it worse, I have a hard time understanding Christina over the cell phone when she is driving and using her microphone. There is distortion and just plain muffled sounds coming through. Not like I have very good hearing to begin with. So, she got ticked off at me and hung up when I couldn't understand her. I don't want her to have to pay for classes all by herself. I want to be able to provide for her and help her out. If only those bastards at Best Buy gave me the promotion and the raise that they *promised* to me and yanked away the very day they were to promote me. If only her dad didn't say that she was on her own and refuse to help her, even though I have the distinct feeling that if her sister asked he would be there in a heartbeat. It's all my fault that he's doing this to her. He resents the fact that she doesn't look solely to him for support and he can't handle the fact that another man has stolen his little girl. That, and I don't think that he believes that she is ready to be on her own, by the way that he speaks to her sometimes. Don't get me wrong, the man has some good points, but they don't center on allowing his daughters to grow and experience things on their own. He has the means to give Christina a hand with schooling, but he chooses not to because he is jilted that she decided to go with me and not stay under his roof. Ugh. Enough bad talking him. I really don't mean to paint such a bleak picture. he went out of his way to invite me to stay with them when my lease at school was up for the summer. He didn't have to do that, and he did it to make Christina happy. All I want right now is a happy night at home. Christina is still angry and doing her stuff she got at her sorority meeting. That means no talking to David, much less smiling at me. That is the worst. Have you seen how her smile can light up the darkest night? It does to me. When she truly smiles, she smiles with her whole body, her eyes, her shoulders, all the way down to her toes. It's an amazing thing, and I love her that much more every time she does it. I haven't seen one in a few days though. :(

Seven Months Removed

Well, well, well.. Looks like I had completely forgotten about my little LiveJournal. A lot has happened since the last post, including two more tires bursting. But those are some of the less notable things. Things seem to be looking up for Christina and me. We have struck out on our own, in an apartment built for two... or something like that. It's not a bad little place, but it is two and a third times larger than the last apartment, and no bunk beds (just a bed pretending to be a couch in the living room). Christina works so very hard in this apartment to make it feel like a home to her. She spends tireless hours cleaning and making this place spotless. As I type, she is putting laundry away. She wouldn't let me help, cause I'm clumsy and get in her way. Typical David, eh? An important announcement for those who don't know (like anybody actually reads this) is that Christina and I have postponed the wedding. So, it is now no longer 25 April 2003, the date is yet to be determined. We are shooting for "Out of School and Holding Steady Careers," but that time seems quite a ways away. I got a beautiful little kitten who I named Myst. She is grey and has one of the most adorable kitten faces that you would ever see in the world. It's true, I scientifically tested it myself. I looked at her and said "She has one of the most adorable kitten faces that you would ever see in the world." That settles that. She is an absolute terror around the house (apartment, whatever) when she decides to attack Artemis, Christina's cat, who weighs in at 15 or 16 pounds and would eat her for breakfast if he weren't too busy cuddling with everyone. She also *must* be a part of anything that moves. If there is motion, including that of feet, she is there, and often getting stepped on. I see where the adage "Curiosity killed the cat" came from. I work at Best Buy right now, and we are entering the busy season, where the customers become raid and demand everything all at once. It tires a guy out, but I think I am up to it. I also picked up some time at the liquor store I grew up with. No, I bought pop there as a kid. I was a good boy ;) . After the end of the year, I should be going back to school, I just have yet to register for classes. Just saw Spiderman yesterday. Yes, I was living under a rock. I loved the ending, and most of the movie itself was just very solid. Then again, Toby McGuire was a pretty damn good fit to Peter Parker. Can't wait till next week to go and see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
