2.5" Diameter Heart Attack

Oh. My. God.

Burnt Finger BBQ took the challenge of doing something barbeque style with bacon. This is called the Bacon Explosion. They did it in a fashion that would cause heart attacks in most of the population of Rhode Island. This monstrosity includes two pounds of bacon, two pounds of Italian sausage, and a jar each of barebque sauce and rub.

It is slow smoked before serving, and it looks completely sinful and I want to try it.

Obama Hennessey?!

I have seen many different bits of Obama merchandise so far.  I have seen multiple t-shirts with his face plastered all over, bumper stickers, keychains, handwarmers, Obama Bars soaps, and more, but this just takes the cake.

Hennessey decided to make a commemorative bottle congratulating the 44th president.  I just find it a little absurd that Hennessey is cashing in on the make-money-off-the-first-African-American-president scheme.  Seriously, stereotypical much?

I just think it a little over the top that there are Obama Chia Heads (both serious and happy styles), hats, Obama masks (in Japan), and so much more.  Yes, Barack Obama is our president, but there has never been so much swag and merchandising.  Is it smart to celebritize our president?  Should we be glorifying a man whose term in office is going to be the most difficult job in the world at one of the most turbulent times in our history?

Running Man

The glut of great 80s movies continues. I watched The Castle of Cagliostro and The Running Man in the past day and a half. Now, Cagliostro has great anime cred. Being a Lupin III movie that was penned by Hayao Miyazaki, it is the combination of two powerhouses. I mean, Monkey Punch's characters and Miyazaki's writing is awesome.

The Running Man, I am sure everyone my age will remember, is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's best films ever. I mean, any movie with Arnie's classic "I'll be back" being followed by Richard Dawson saying "Only in reruns" is a winner in my book.

It's closing in on 3am and my insomnia is wearing on me. I plan on being up for another few hours, unfortunately. Hopefully I can get something boring on tv or convince myself to fall asleep the old fashioned way.

I've seen 163 out of 239 films. That's a lot of films!

Supposedly, if you have seen more than 85 films, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook account, paste this as a note. Then, put x's next to the films you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun.

Post "I've seen ____ out of 239 films" as the title of the note.

So... Sleepy

Is anyone else in hibernation mode these days?

Kelly and I got our December DTE bill, and we think that $170 for a month in a 750 square foot apartment is pretty crazy. We have turned the heat down and have started living in blankets. We have no less than five in our living room (a 16' by 12' room).

In other news, my journal is now uploaded properly and migrated from LiveJournal. So, if you are bored enough, you may read about my exploits in Japan (end of May 2004 to September 2004) or before that if you want the slow, painful death of the relationship I had with my ex. That makes for some happy reading...

I played some Resistance 2 online today, and the full game is definitely as fun as the beta was. I was part of a coop team with 7 others running though Bryce Canyon, Utah. I was playing split screen, and my character of choice was the Medic. My team was well balanced, and we kicked the Chimera's butts all across the canyon. I passed the controller after that round, and they died within minutes. He blamed failure on the poor team dynamics. I think it failed because I was not playing.

In any case, I am just hanging out online while Kelly is watching the Screen Actor's Guild Award Ceremony. I am just surprised that people in Hollywood will join a guild called SAG.

Televisual Entertainment

So this is my new living room setup. My one wall is completely taken up with shiny new electronics, and I love it.

Featured:
  • Samsung 6 Series 52" LCD HD 1080i Television
  • Dish Network HD DVR Receiver
  • Nintendo Wii
  • Sony Playstation 3
  • Sony 900 Watt Receiver and Surround Sound System
  • Brand new tv stand
  • New Multimedia Shelves
I know that I have all of my speakers on the tv stand, and not surrounding me as surround sound is meant to be set up, but I have no room for the speakers behind the couch right now.

What economic downturn?

So Slow at Work

With Michigan's unemployment rating over 10.6%, and the rate increasing even though the pool of employable people shrinks means that we are in a world (or state) of trouble. And the first thing people cut out? That would be the luxuries. Don't get me wrong, we still have people coming in, and we really appreciate and take excellent care of them, but I want the masses to come in in droves, throwing wads of hundreds at us.

Well, that would be nice, anyway.

Kelly and I have been getting our living room remodeled (ie. giant tv) for Superbowl. We are having a few people over to gaze upon our 52" tv and eat snacks while watching people who are paid more than everyone in my family combined play a game. I will have a pic of the setup in my next post.

Journal Migration

Hey, how's it going?

This is the first post written in my very own blogspot journal. I am in the midst of migrating my LiveJournal account over here so I can have my blog-o-history (since 2002, intermittently updated).

I was inspired to do this because (a) Google owns it and (b) my little brother Kevo has a blog also.

Old posts will show up, but feel free to ignore them.

I write as if I have an audience; mainly it is for my own benefit, but, hey, I write to the amorphous internets.
