Had a Great Birthday

In spite of the poor weather conditions, it was a wonderful day to have a birthday.

I woke up, looked at the rain pouring down outside my window, and decided that waking up could wait a little while longer.  When I did get up, I was ravenously hungry.  Kelly and I went out to Three Brothers for Polish food (mmm, Pierogies...) where Kelly added the Bacon & Onion to her Pierogies, and there was about a pound of bacon and onion for 99 cents.  It was hilarious.  Also, Dill Pickle Soup is frightening.  It reminded me of cream of potato with chunks of pickle all the way through it.  Interesting, but not horrible.  I could only eat about 3 bites.

Next, we had a fun, fun time getting life insurance, starting a Roth IRA, and getting our financial future planned just a little bit.  Exciting, isn't it?

Then came the visitations.  First, Kelly and I went to visit my Papa and his kitties to see how they were doing.  We spent a few hours chatting and had a good time.  It was good to see him, we haven't gotten over there in a few months.  Next, we went to my brother's place and saw my sister-in-law Susie and my nephew, Alex.  He is getting big; he turns 2 at the end of March.  He wasn't too happy to see us at first (I admit, I do look pretty strange.)  After letting him knock me around for a little bit, he warmed up and we chased each other around the condo for an hour or so.  He wore me out!

Eventually, Kelly and I went to dinner.  We were planning on Red Lobster, but Benihana is more delicious, so we went there.  I splurged (since I was craving Lobster) and got the steak and lobster dinner.  The other people at the table were really nice, and the two right next to us were hard to decipher.  I couldn't tell if they were father and daughter, but that wasn't right...  They obviously weren't dating since they were at least 30 years apart and their manner was more of a father/daughter relationship, and a work trip seemed unlikely with only two of them.  It turns out, though, that they work at a nuclear power plant in Minnesota, and she is his mentor.  They were really nice, and made the night that much more interesting.

I was planning on having people over after I got home, but I had been out for 10 hours, and I was exhausted, so I had birthday cake (delicious) and went to bed.  Exciting birthday, no?  I really enjoyed being able to relax and spend time with family as well as the whole day with my lovely wife.  That was my favorite part of my birthday.
